Call for Nominations: NG9-1-1 Interoperability Oversight Commission

Michelle Melancon News

Members of the 9-1-1 community are invited to submit nominations for the NG9-1-1 Interoperability Oversight Commission (Commission), also known as the NIOC. The Commission provides independent oversight of the PSAP Credentialing Agency (PCA) and the Forest Guide—two centrally operated functional elements required for NG9-1-1 interoperability as defined by prevailing standards. These requirements are derived from specifications developed by NENA’s NENA Development Group (NDG) and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).

The Commission seeks nominees who can represent the following voting stakeholder categories:

  • PSAPs/ECCs
  • NENA Board Delegate
  • Commercial End-User NG9-1-1 Products Provider
  • NENA Core Services Committee Member
  • Elected Officials
  • Public Safety Associations
  • NENA Development Steering Council

The Commission also seeks non-voting liaisons representing:

  • United States Federal Communications Commission
  • U.S. National 9-1-1 Program
  • Canada CRTC
  • United States DISA
  • United States CISA

Members of the 9-1-1 community may nominate any individual who meets the qualifications for the applicable stakeholder group. Please submit nominations to admin@ng911ioc.org no later than February 28, 2026. All nominees will undergo an eligibility review prior to being submitted to the NENA Board for consideration. The NENA Board will confirm new Commission members at its March meeting. Each commissioner will serve a two-year term.

Required Nomination Materials

Please include the following (or equivalent documentation):

  • The nominee’s resume or CV
  • A brief statement outlining the nominee’s qualifications, including relevant technical expertise and/or domain knowledge in 9-1-1
  • A brief statement explaining how the nominee represents the identified stakeholder category
  • Evidence supporting the nominee’s representation of the stakeholder group, if applicable (e.g., a board vote, an endorsement from a current Association Committee Chair/Co-chair or other or other written endorsement from the supporting organization.)

All commissioners are required to adhere to the Commission’s bylaws, available at ng911ioc.org/library.
