The NG9-1-1 Interoperability Oversight Commission (NIOC), the independent oversight body for standards-driven interoperability programs for NG9-1-1, congratulates Kris Zuniga, Commander, Kings County Sheriff’s Office, on his impending retirement! Kris has served citizens in Kings County honorably – his service on the NIOC will be missed!
Kris’ retirement creates a vacancy representing Public Safety Associations that are not otherwise currently represented on the NIOC Commission. According to NIOC Bylaws, no individual organization, government entity, company or equivalent may have more than one Commissioner serving on the Commission at the same time, unless that organization is a trade association.
The NIOC encourages qualified applicants to apply for this vacancy by submitting a qualifications letter to admin@ng911ioc.org; the NIOC will vet applicants at its August 11th, 2021, meeting.
NIOC consists of stakeholders from the public and private sectors that are affected by standards-driven interoperability programs. Specifically, the NIOC is tasked with overseeing critical 9-1-1 interoperability services such as the PKI and Forest Guide. More information about the NIOC is available here.
